Overview maps of Temporary Shelter, Care and Maintenance, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka
Directly after the tsunami, tent camps and schools provided shelter to the victims. As soon as possible, temporary shelters - slightly bigger and stronger than tents - where constructed all along the coasts. More and more houses are completed, and shelter camps are closed down one by one. We still provide a frequent update of the sites, be it less often. The map shows both shelter sites (camps) and shelters placed on private land.
